Scheduling a Wedding
Obtain a copy of St. Margaret Catholic Church Wedding Policy. Call or contact the parish office and we will mail a copy to you.
Obtain recent official Church documents before your first appointment with the priest. A NEW copy of EACH of your Baptismal certificates with notations issued within the last six months from the Church parish where you and your fiancé were baptized. Phone the parish where you were baptized and ask for an official copy of your Baptismal record with notations on the front and back. If you or your future spouse are NOT Roman Catholic, you must obtain a letter from the Church of Baptism, stating the Baptism has taken place. That letter must include full name, birth date, parents’ full name (including the mother’s maiden name) and the date of Baptism.
Make an appointment with the priest who will preside at your marriage. (This must be at least 6 months before you hope to marry). Bring all documents to this initial visit. Ordinarily, a priest of the parish staff will preside at the marriages celebrated in the parish. Sometimes, the couple may have another priest or deacon they wish to invite to officiate at the marriage, or to assist at the marriage. In this case, the visiting priest or deacon must contact our parish office before the marriage will be scheduled on our parish calendar. Visiting priests are expected to observe Church law, Diocesan and Parish policies and customs regarding the celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage.
Make an appointment with the Wedding Coordinator before purchasing any items or inviting persons to participate in the wedding. Our Wedding coordinator will review with you the Church policy for marriages, and provide information about photographers, florists, attendants, liturgical music, etc. It is important to know and understand these policies and to set the marriage date with the priest before making arrangements for these or any other services connected with your marriage.
Non-Parishioners pay a fee of $900 for use of the church. (A non-refundable deposit of $250 is due when scheduling a marriage. The remaining $650 is due at least 30 days prior to the marriage. To be considered a parishioner, the bride or groom, or the parent(s) must be registered, regularly attending, and financially supporting the Parish for at least one year prior to the marriage.
